Visiting Scholar - 0.75 FTE Mission Chair in Women's Education
St. Catherine University invites applicants for a one-year 0.75 FTE visiting scholar position to fulfill the duties of Mission Chair in Women’s Education for the 2018-2019 academic year. Established in 2016, the Mission Chair in Women’s Education is funded by Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Funds for Women’s Education and Rita Gillach Otte initiative in Women’s Education. The Center for Mission, co-led by three Mission Chairs in Catholic Identity, Women's Education and Liberal Arts, work together to highlight and braid our tripartite mission, transform institutional culture to reflect our values and work with faculty to create expressions of the mission in their work. This one-year residency provides a visiting scholar opportunities to engage scholarly work with the endowed funds to advance St. Catherine University's mission to education women to lead and influence. This position is considered full-time and benefits eligible.
• To engage in a research or creative project that directly relates to our women's mission that considers intersectionality and multiplicity of women in terms of race, nation, class, gender, sexuality, ability, and religion
• To carry out scholarly or creative programming grounded in rigorous, innovative work that that is women-centered and intersectional
• To build partnerships with multiple stakeholders in women’s leadership within and beyond the University
• To manage the budget of the Endowed Fund for Women’s Education
In addition to working with the Mission Chairs in Catholic Identity and Liberal Arts, this position entails other collaborative opportunities on campus with the following: The Advisory Group for Women’s Education who has experience working with previous Mission Chairs in Women’s Education; The Abigail Quigley McCarthy Center for Women, which proactively supports University mission through academic and co-curricular programming involving students, staff, faculty, alumnae/i and friends and Interdisciplinary programs such as Women’s Studies and Critical Studies and Critical Studies of Race and Ethnicity
• Terminal degree in the candidate’s field is required
• Applicants must have scholarship and/or teaching related to women's education
• Experience in higher education working with diverse student, faculty, teaching and scholarship or artistic practice
• A vision for women’s education, leadership, and empowerment that considers intersectionality of race, nation, class, gender, and sexuality

Applicant must include a five-page statement that describes: 1) your vision for women’s education that reflects your understanding intersectionality and that aligns with St. Catherine University’s mission; 2) past work that demonstrate the practice of this vision and the other qualifications 3) A concrete plan for the year that includes a proposal for research and creative project with clearly defined goals(publication, performance, exhibit, etc.), with some of these goals accomplished during the residency and a proposal for a program/event in March 2019 that brings together scholars, artists, or activists to showcase work in women's education and leadership, and to celebrate International Women’s Day.
