Humera is looking for a Healthcare Instructor for our client in Minneapolis, MN. The Health Care Instructor facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment. This individual is responsible for teaching various classes related to our healthcare programs, including but not limited to, Coding & Billing, Medical Office Procedures, and Legal and Ethical issues in the Healthcare Profession. This position continuously works to ensure our mission to prepare students for living wage jobs through training, curriculum development and classroom management.
Duties:
  • Develops and designs curriculum specific to the core competencies of client's certificate programs; for example, Pharmaceutical Technician and Community Health Work
  • Teaches students in a competency-based format through lectures, demonstration, and learning centered instruction
  • Manages the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies
  • Contributes to a learning culture by participating on curriculum and system task forces, supporting local campus events such as orientation and graduation and participating in various other workshops and meetings
  • Teaches students how to look at prepared slides under a microscope and explain basic cell structure
  • Plans appropriate differentiation strategies to address

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Must have strong knowledge in medical terminology, biology, body systems, HIPAA, and legal and ethical issues as they relate to the medical field
  • Must have a minimum of intermediate computer skills
  • Must have proficient decision making, problem solving, time management and stress management skills
  • Must be able to work in a diverse setting
  • Must be able to communicate constructively
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Must have a previous experience working in a health related field
  • Must have Medical Billing and Coding Credentials
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in a health related field
  • Must have teaching experience; 1-2 years required

Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
