Pro Staff has teamed with Cantel Medical, a leading Medical Device Manufacturer to add a Buyer to their Supply Chain Management Team! This is a 6 month contract role that could be contract to hire for the right fit! In this role you will be purchasing materials, components, goods, and services to support manufacturing operations. Additionally, you will be responsible for requesting quotes and identifying potential sources of supply that meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives. Pay Rate: $25-30/hour - Depending on Experience

Hours: Regular Business Hours

Duration: 6 Month Contract - Contract to Hire for the right fit

Job Duties:

  • Recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities that meet corporate objectives and policies
  • Actively participates in overall product strategy development, R&D requirements and manufacturing coordination for new and emerging products as assigned
  • Purchase assigned commodities according to ERP system messages, requisitions and manual form service requisitions / purchase requisitions
  • Issue purchase orders and change orders for assigned commodities, ensure that proper internal documentation and external documentation are provided by requestors and to suppliers
  • Manage the return of discrepant material to supplier for disposition per the Material Reject Record and coordinate with Receiving, Quality and Accounts Payable in resolving any receiving issues for materials
  • Utilize ERP reports to ensure adequate inventory of purchased material is maintained in order to meet manufacturing requirements
  • Communicate timely and current information regarding material availability
  • Develop and maintain suppliers to support departmental and corporate Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory objectives
  • Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, utilize ERP and other systems to monitor and report on supplier performance, coordinate and ensure corrective actions are executed as appropriate
  • Perform Request for Quotes, select existing and/or source new suppliers, negotiate price, payment terms and lead time with suppliers to include maintenance of information in appropriate system databases
  • Maintain accurate purchasing files in entering and closing out purchase orders in ERP system
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and the ability to demonstrate everyday incremental improvements within job scope
  • Occasional travel required to resolve supplier issues and develop new sources
Requirements:
  • BA or BS degree and/or a minimum of two years purchasing/materials experience in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of MRP and manufacturing support systems
  • Familiarity with ISO, FDA and GMP requirements. ISM CPSM and/or APICS CPIM or CRIM Certification desirable
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and work well within cross-functional team environments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position to utilize standard office tools
  • Move about office and manufacturing area as necessary
  • Operate office equipment (i.e., computer, calculator, copy machine, fax machine)
