Medical Scribe/Clinical Project Analyst at wonderful pediatric practice! Children’s Respiratory is hiring a medical scribe to work with our pediatric pulmonologists. This person will gain excellent insight into outpatient medicine and have the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with clinical staff. Excellent hours: no weekends, evenings or holidays. When not in clinic, this role works on outcome measures for clinical programs, including a high risk asthma program among others. There are additional opportunities to work closely with physicians on special projects. This diverse position is a great opportunity for new graduates exploring the healthcare field and looking to gain professional experience and connections.

Job Description

  • Prepare for the patient visit by reading previous clinic notes as well as other encounters (ED visits, hospitalizations, surgeries, phone calls etc.)
  • Transcribe the proceedings of the outpatient visit with the physician. Aid in preparing the treatment plan
  • Serve as a liaison between the care team (nurses, respiratory technicians, front desk) and the physician, ensuring smooth clinic workflow
  • Attend weekly clinical review of inpatient pulmonary patients; help coordinate inpatient to outpatient care
  • Audit outpatient progress notes for completion, accuracy and insurance requirements
  • Complete presentations, posters and projects for providers
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of outcome metrics for various clinical projects
  • Disseminate project updates in written and oral formats
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager


  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Ability to retain verbal information and to work quickly and quietly
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Situational awareness and anticipatory thinking are crucial
  • Reliable transportation to various clinic locations (Minneapolis, St. Paul, Minnetonka and St. Cloud)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to be a flexible team player on an interdisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field
  • Previous healthcare experience
  • Anatomy, physiology or medical terminology courses
  • Previous research, project design and/or statistical experience
  • Experience with database entry or tasks requiring a high attention to detail and accuracy

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30-5:30, not to exceed 40 hours weekly. No weekends or evenings.
