A role in Store Design means the opportunity to apply your innovative and sustainable architectural design and technical expertise. Your work will ultimately help define the physical experience.  The interactions and connectivity between the physical, digital and human elements Target develops for our guest, will evolve the brand image in store and ultimately support Target's business strategies. You'll interpret program and scope details to integrate them with interior and exterior site design and aesthetic for new stores, remodels and innovation projectsAs a Director in Store Design, you will have responsibility for the design & documentation of fixtures and equipment for all new stores, remodels and special projects; including strategy development, programming, scope and design development, documentation, quality assurance, scheduling, resource planning and training.  Leads multiple store planning & design functions including alignment meetings with senior leadership across the company.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads the implementation fixture team to develop new strategies & innovations for all programs:  new stores, remodels, special projects and transitions
  • Develops strategic partnerships with manufacturing vendors to improve accuracy, drive efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring on time deliveries
  • Plays an active role in the design, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing and purchasing of fixtures and equipment
  • Develops innovative solutions that meet client needs, schedule deliverables and budgets
  • Develops and maintains communication vehicles & content to ensure deliverables are met and provide stakeholder updates for internal and external partners, including change management
  • Collaborates with Properties, Visual Merchandising, Space and Presentation, Store Operations, Marketing, and Merchandising to ensure design and documentation is holistic, relevant and current (e.g. interior and exterior décor, layouts, fixtures, equipment, infrastructure, etc.)
  • Responsible to manage and maintain store design database, documentation and quality assurance
  • Partner with Properties team to ensure new tools and processes are developed with all programs in mind; including sourcing, procurement, construction and store design teams.
  • Manages talent; including development plans, performance reviews, project assignments, training & coaching for day-to-day projects and career planning
  • Manages internal, contractor and vendor resources; including scheduling, planning and training
Job duties may change at any time due to business needsAbout you:
  • Four Year College Degree
  • 7-10 years Industrial design or manufacturing experience
  • Experience leading a team
  • Demonstrated ability to develop staff & create bench strength
  • Experience developing & implementing a large enterprise wide initiative via store design
  • Strategic and innovative (able to take a step back, be creative, push boundaries, prioritize and guide thinking )
  • Outstanding communication - both in presenting and the development of content for presentations.  Consulting experience beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results quickly
  • Strong design point of view; excellent understanding of company's strategic direction and ability to interpret and communicate senior management direction
  • Outstanding ability to present to senior leadership
  • Outstanding analytical and strategic problem solving skills
  • Highly motivated and committed to the development of high quality work and personal productivity; outstanding ability to coordinate multiple projects, develop and implement schedules, and prioritize workload; desire to work in a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing environment
Desired:
