Communications Lead - Internal and External
Serve as the Corporate Responsibility and Stores business lead for Target Communications. Leading internal and external communications for Target Corporate Responsibility (CR) and Target Stores, splitting responsibility 50% for each.
-For CR, this position is responsible for developing and executing an annual communications plan that articulates Target's efforts and progress to advance its Corporate Responsibility leadership for internal and external stakeholders.
-For Target Stores, this position is responsible for working with Target leaders to communicate the continued evolution of the shopping experience that combines the power of our team members, technology and physical location to transform the guest experience.
-As a member of Target's Communications team, this role will support broader communications priorities within an integrated team setting, including assignments and projects that are beyond the scope of CR and Stores.
-Working closely with leadership and internal partners across the company to optimize CR and stores communications
-Developing annual strategic plans to support Target stores and CR to internal and external stakeholders
-Serve as a communications advisor to the Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, and manage participation in key events or speaking opportunities, media interviews and related communications activities
-Engaging external stakeholders (including relevant forums, events, and organizations) to evaluate and create opportunities to convey Target's story
-Supporting and contributing to the annual CR report
-Developing and engaging with relevant media about Target
-Collaborating with Target's overall communication team and internal partners to communicate in holistic way across all channels.
-Developing internal communications
-Managing PR agency relationships, performance and budgets
-Monitor media landscape daily to better understand how Target and our competitive set are being covered externally
-Serve as external spokesperson for Target
-Cultivate productive relationships with key reporters
-Strong writer for various forms (i.e., email, speeches, media talking points)
-Strong media relations skills
-Strategic (and able to translate strategy into action into measurable results)
-Executive presence and the ability to coach/counsel senior leaders
-Requires ability to collaborate with peers and influence without authority
-Organized and able to balance multiple competing priorities on a daily basis
-Team player and effective at keeping channel experts aware of any pertinent business updates
