A role in the Finance Ops calls on your skills for quality financial and inventory reporting and accurate financials and technical accounting while providing thoughtful and responsive support, expertise and guidance to business partners. Your role will be critical to ensuring the success of Target's business initiatives and core retail operations. 

As a Sr Manager, Payroll Tax and Compliance, you are responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Payroll Tax and Compliance team and ensuring all operational and accounting processes and controls are effective for timely, accurate and compliant payroll tax payments, tax returns and annual W-2 statements.  In addition, you are responsible for developing and executing operational plans, improvement initiatives, and other assigned projects for the Payroll Tax team that creates the foundation for world class operations.  Collaboration with key partners including, the Global Payroll Tax Team in India, Finance, Target Technology teams, Tax and Employee Relations is critical to success in this role. Given the volume and complexity of the regulatory environment, the Sr Manager Payroll Tax and Compliance is responsible for managing compliance with all Payroll Tax regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Sarbanes Oxley by developing and maintaining a robust system of internal controls and processes.  It is critical to anticipate and analyze new payroll industry trends and regulatory developments to maintain compliance, and identify compliance challenges to enable continuous improvement of key performance metrics.  Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:

  • B.A/B.S degree or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years of Payroll Tax and experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
  • Workday experience desired
  • Strong team leadership skills and ability to develop and motivate team members
  • Strong compliance experience and internal controls knowledge
  • Proven ability to think and act strategically, analytically and with operational and control discipline
