The Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault was founded in 1982. Our mission is to provide leadership and resources for sexual assault programs and allies to prevent sexual violence while promoting a comprehensive, socially just response for all victims/survivors. MNCASA provides training and technical assistance to member advocacy programs across the state; supports multidisciplinary teams working to ensure a victim-centered response to incidents of sexual violence through the Sexual Violence Justice Institute; leads the state in strategic work regarding primary prevention of sexual violence and child sexual abuse; and works to ensure that public policy reflects the needs of victims/survivors and the systems which are charged with providing safety, accountability, and sustainable change.

Grants and Finance Manager

Position Description

The Grants and Finance Manager is a member of the MNCASA leadership team and a strategic partner. The Grants and Finance Manager reports to the Executive Director (ED) and supports the following areas: finance, planning, grant and contract monitoring, compliance with state and federal financial management standards, budgeting and payroll support. The Grants and Finance Manager plays a critical role in partnering with the leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as MNCASA continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity.

Responsibilities

  • At least one direct report, including an Accounting Specialist
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors; responsible for all grant financial reporting and payment requests
  • Coordinate the annual audit process with auditor firm and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors; coordinate all ad hoc funder audits also
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ED, program managers and Board of Directors; manages grant budget progress and compliance.
  • Meets regularly with program managers to advise them of their financial status respective to their grants and to ensure accurate planning and reporting
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting
  • Prior to monthly Finance Committee meeting, reports to ED on cash flow, grant status, and the overall organization’s financial status.
  • Responsible for updates and monitoring all business policies and accounting practices
  • Support donation and fund development.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable; bookkeeping and bi-monthly payroll processing
  • Responsible for office administration/management, Human Resources and IT
  • Manage all contracts for the organization, including consultants, vendors, etc.

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. degree, ideally with a related degree or commensurate experience
  • 7-10 years professional experience; includes 5 years of financial management experience and at least two years supervisory experience
  • Ability to translate financial concepts to and effectively collaborate with programmatic staff who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
  • Experience with state and federal grants management
  • Extensive experience with cost allocations across multiple government grants
  • Proficient with Quickbooks accounting software.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of MNCASA

Position Report to:      Executive Director

Hours:                         Full-Time, exempt

Location:                     St. Paul, MN

Salary Range:              $60,000 - $78,000

Communications and Development Director

Position Description

The Communications and Development Director will be primarily responsible for establishing strategic direction and operational leadership in all aspects of organizational communications and messaging, while also being directly responsible for planning and executing strategies needed to grow the budget through the solicitation of major gifts, government grants, special events, planned corporate gifts, and foundation support. This position is expected to be a strategic communication partner to all program areas of MNCASA and SVJI@MNCASA.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct communications strategy to promote the work of MNCASA;
  • Work closely with management team as the communications leader to develop and support the organization’s strategic initiatives;
  • Lead the communications team, and develop and implement detailed communications plans in line with the organization’s strategies;
  • Oversee website and social media management;
  • Create and maintain a communications schedule, adjusting as needed throughout the year given changes in circumstances and strategic work plan;
  • Serve as media point of contact, including drafting all press releases and organizing press conferences;
  • Provide research on funding trends, new opportunities, fundraising challenges, and best practices in fundraising;
  • Diversify organizational revenue sources through increased philanthropic funds;
  • Create and execute successful Fund Development Plan, building upon and enhancing current funding sources and strategies including government grants, while growing individual, corporate, and foundation giving;
  • Coordinate all grant proposal planning, preparation, and reporting, assuring timely submissions while partnering with MNCASA grant program managers, specifically in the area of preparing government grants;
  • Explore, plan, and implement successful fundraising events;
  • Provide leadership, implementation, and support with the Executive Director and members of the Board on all major fundraising initiatives;
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Fundraising-Development Committee; and
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience;
  • Five-plus years of communications experience, ideally in leadership role within a political, government, or advocacy organization; and with proven experience in areas such as website content development, media relations, newsletters, donor communications, and successful development;
  • Collaborative work style with diverse constituent groups, including staff, board members, donors, collaborative partners, and other supporters;
  • Extensive experience with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram best practices, as well as how to effectively utilize those platforms’ analytics tools;
  • Ability to write from different perspectives and in different “voices”;
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills;
  • Familiarity with Twin Cities philanthropic community;
  • Demonstrated success with grant proposal writing, and initiating and cultivating relationships with foundations;
  • A successful track record in setting priorities and keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making;
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of MNCASA.

Hours:                         Full-Time, exempt

Salary Range:              $$60,000 to $73,200
