If so, you will have success on one of our dynamic teams. A role in Buying means working with several diverse vendors to choose the best product mix, both in-store and online. We help determine where to localize, while calibrating market positioning and acting as brand managers. Here, you'll own a wide SKU count so that your work is varied and challenging. Through cross-functional collaboration, instinct and creativity, you will be the expert on the guest, the market and the competition. Primary Function The Associate Buyer takes on strategy and assortment planning responsibilities for a sub-category, as well as supports Buyers in developing and executing category strategy and functional plans through analysis of internal and external insights, vendor management, and promotion/markdown execution. This role will require particular passion and focus on men's performance apparel (Nike, Adidas, Lululemon, etc.) and the fitness / athletic space.Sub-Category Ownership
  • Take on category strategy and assortment planning responsibility for a product sub-category within Men's Performance Apparel.
  • Build assortments optimized by channel; include segmentation strategies to address local market and climate opportunities as needed
  • Execute financial plan for assigned product category
Assortment Planning Analysis & Recommendations
  • Conduct sales analysis and comp shopping to make pre-assortment planning recommendations for Merchants (e.g. recommendations on architecture, promotional insights, program life-cycle).
  • Support Buyer in strategy development by analyzing data and third party reports (e.g. DOMO, EDITED, NPD). Make recommendations based upon frequent analysis of category selling, market trends, and the competitive set. 
  • Document and maintain enterprise assortment line plan. Ensure pricing, MSCs, MICS, and all product details are accurate.  Help localize assortments and tailor line plan as necessary.
  • Assist Buyer with guiding product development in partnership with Vendors, Visual Merchants, and sourcing for assigned product category. Manage product development samples as needed.
  • Create and drive Guest Insights routines and initiatives for our department so a diverse set of Guest voices is incorporated throughout our product development process.
Vendor Management
  • Own item setup through building accurate ICTs, prompt and persistent follow up, and shepherding the process.  Connect the right parties (e.g. Vendors and Item COE) to enable complete and accurate item set up.
  • Assist with on-going communications with vendors, including working through specifics of assortment decisions, escalate questions to Category Merchant and cross-functional partners as needed. Track vendor fund agreements, payments, and execute promotions.
  • Analyze and challenge vendors on wholesale costing. Negotiate directly with vendors to drive PMU improvement.
Promo/Packaging/Markdown Execution
  • Execute advertising plans and strategies for assigned product category including ad item selection, space allocation planning, pricing, ad volume forecasting and productivity analysis and complete promotional setup in systems.
  • Partner with Category Merchant, Pricing COE, and Merchandise Planning to manage the markdown process. Input and maintain system entry for flawless execution.

  • Strong understanding of retail math, sales, and inventory metrics
  • Self-Starter that can identify business opportunities; takes initiative to reach out to cross-functional team members as needed; collaborates to address opportunities.

  • Digital ( experience preferred; know how to trouble data issues such as blocked launches, VAP adjustments, and optimizing the website for success.
