Humera is looking for a Health Care Instructor for our client in Minneapolis, MN. This is a contract-to-hire position!

The Health Care Instructor facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment.
The Health Care Instructor is responsible for teaching various classes related to our healthcare programs, including but not limited to, medical terminology, documentation, and pharmacology.
This position continuously works to ensure our mission to prepare students for living wage jobs through training, curriculum development and classroom management.

The candidate in this position would need to be able to cover the following classes/material:
  • Coding and Billing
  • Health Care Law & Ethics
  • Medical Office Procedures
  • Intro to Insurance


  • Develops and designs curriculum specific to the core competencies of client's certificate programs; for example, Pharmaceutical Technician and Community Health Work
  • Teaches students in a competency-based format through lectures, demonstration, and learning centered instruction
  • Manages the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies.
  • Contributes to a learning culture by participating on curriculum and system task forces, supporting local campus events such as orientation and graduation and participating in various other workshops and meetings
  • Teaches students how to look at prepared slides under a microscope and explain basic cell structure
  • Plans appropriate differentiation strategies to address individual learning needs and styles of urban adult students
  • Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment to determine grades in accordance with established standards and criteria.
  • Models learning and behavior consistent with expectations for students
  • Teaches pro-social behavioral patterns conducive to success in the Health Care Industry; for example, safety, health, ethics, employability and related skills
  • Relates professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.

    This job operates in a professional school setting which requires instructors to maintain professional appearance and attitude.
    The work environment is fast paced and requires time management and prioritization of job duties.


  • Must have strong knowledge in medical terminology, biology, body systems, HIPAA, and legal and ethical issues as they relate to the medical field
  • Must know how to use a microscope
  • Must have a minimum of intermediate computer skills
  • Must have proficient decision making, problem solving, time management and stress management skills
  • Must be able to work in a diverse setting
  • Must be able to communicate constructively
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

  • Must be comfortable with current coding and billing practices or have the ability to become current
  • Must have minimum 2-year degree in a health-related field OR equivalent work experience

  • A Master's degree in a health related field
  • More than 2 years teaching experience
  • Experience with teaching adults


  • 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday
