    Transportation Route Coordinator - McKinney-Vento
    Full Time  12 months

    Coordinate portions of the District’s McKinney-Vento transportation services, including the development of safe and efficient transportation routes, while working within the District’s policies and guidelines, and monitoring results, to make sure consistent compliance with district service and safety expectations.

    Duties:  Receive and process data for McKinney-Vento students.  Design and prepare bus schedules indicating time of pickup and arrival using transportation software.  Route all students with the focus of routing students who are experiencing Homelessness.  Use the communication processes with the McKinney-Vento staff in order to provide proper services in a timely manner.  Determine the bus stop locations, length of routes and runs per shift.  Determine if services can be provided within current routing structures using regular route buses, special needs buses, or out-of-district transportation services.  Respond to inquiries from parents, staff, and general public regarding student bus route concerns.  Serve as a liaison between the school district transportation department and bus contractor dispatchers, other district departments and schools, and routing personnel.  Serve as a member of the district Transportation Safety Committee.  Assist with the verification route information regarding monthly route bills.  Assist in the audit of bus contractors to ensure compliance with district policies and laws.  Respond to emergency situations as needed.  Perform other tasks and assume such responsibilities as the Director of Transportation may assign.

    Minimum Qualifications:  Requires High school diploma or equivalent.  Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.  Accuracy and attention to detail;  flexibility;  ability / desire to work cooperatively with department, district staff and public.  Knowledge of and experience with PC software, word processing, spreadsheets, and complex databases.  Excellent time management and planning skills.  Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.  Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.  
    Reliable transportation required.  Driving to the bus company headquarters, or to other school district buildings is often required.  Driving in an auto behind a school bus, to monitor the route effectiveness is also required at times. (Most work is performed in an office, and much of the work is performed on a computer and telephone.)

    Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in school bus transportation or use of computerized routing systems preferred.  Familiar with community road configurations and demographics preferred.  Knowledge of how school transportation system works preferred.  Ability to analyze data and make necessary changes to improve effectiveness and/or efficiency preferred.  Experience using Transfinder routing software preferred

    Rate of Pay:  $48,932 and up, DOQ, plus generous benefits package.

    Start Date:  7/29/18.
