Description: Senior Venture Architect, New VenturesSimilar Industry Titles and Key Words: Growth Hacker, Innovation Design, Store Innovation, Experience Design, Creative Strategist, Design Strategist, Human Centered Design, Human Centered Innovation, Intrapreneur, Product Development, Product Management, Product Owner, Innovation Program Manager, Lean Startup Supports the development, implementation, and execution of initiatives within the New Ventures team portfolio as we seek to develop and validate hypotheses for new digital products, omnichannel experiences, or wholly new businesses live in-market. Brings a multi-disciplinary background in creating experiences (physical, digital, or service-based) to apply human centered design and lean startup approaches while driving the project management of complex and ambiguous bodies of work. In partnership with Principal Venture Architects, help support cross-functional alignment, manage critical timelines, design and structure experiments, create synthesis materials or other collateral as needed to support assessment of experiments or communication with other teams (decks, white papers, etc.). Must be a humble, curious, hungry, roll-up-your sleeves self-starter and jack-of-all-trades with the ability to communicate effectively, think critically, get scrappy / entrepreneurial, and navigate ambiguity.  Key ResponsibilitiesUse your skills, experience, and creativity to help design and execute experiments to prove / disprove the consumer value of new digital products, physical experiences, or services, and provide a high degree of structure and project management through often ambiguous bodies of work. As a Senior Venture Architect, you will:
  • Actively contribute to hypothesis development and experiment design to drive new digital products, experiences, or services at Target
  • Bring a point of view / opinion to everything we do while appreciating that this work is both art and science. Humility / a learner's mindset is a must; you are comfortable with not always being right
  • Lead tactical planning and execution for experiments to prove / disprove the desirability, feasibility, and viability of new consumer value propositions
  • Project manage across generally ambiguously defined bodies of work; create clear structure, timing, action plans, meeting cadence, recaps, presentation materials, ad hoc analyses, and other supporting materials as needed
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary innovation “pod” including product managers, ux designers, strategists, and engineers to drive rapid prototyping to support proof / disproof of hypotheses.
  • Use your skills in human centered design and / or lean startup methodologies to help design low-fidelity experiments with clear success metrics, and inform requirements for prototypes of all kinds - paper, false door, wizard of oz, non-working apps, etc. - that help prove out either the desirability, feasibility, or business viability of new offerings
  • Build / maintain relationships internally and externally that help facilitate rapid, scrappy experimentation by “borrowing” smarts, resources, or permission from others
  • Own project management tools (i.e. Trello, work plans, etc.) to ensure priority alignment across the New Ventures cross-functional team and other internal and external stake holders
  • Create and maintain weekly, monthly, and quarterly KPI reporting and communicate this out regularly to key stakeholders
  • Identify new processes and tools that need to be created or implemented to help the team achieve its goals
Requirements
  • BS / BA
  • 3-5 years background in an experiment-driven / entrepreneurial environment helping launch new products, services, experiences or businesses - domain expertise could range from product management, growth marketing, experience design (product, store / physical, or digital), or innovation ideally in a consumer-facing business (creative / innovation / digital agency or management consultancy, retail / ecommerce, CPG / consumer brands, museum / entertainment / event design, etc.), with a successful track record bringing experiences to market
  • Strong project management skills. Must be able to provide structure, be proactive, navigate ambiguity, manage stakeholders, hold others accountable without authority, and create appropriate professional collateral (e.g., decks, white papers, design briefs, RFPs, project plans, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication, active listening, critical thinking, and presentation skills
  • Team player with ability to interact with multiple levels of the organization and external partners.
  • Humility, learner's mindset
