NETWORK ENGINEER - TEMPORARY (8 MONTH ASSIGNMENT)

Position Description

This position is responsible to ensure effective, efficient and stable infrastructure system functionality, including all data center, data closet, desktop systems, peripherals, wireless and video systems with focus on voice and network systems. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing voice and network infrastructure across the organization. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment because this role works with business partners, leadership, technical teams, and end-users to successfully develop and implement UCare infrastructure systems. Collaborate with the portfolio and business teams, partners, team members and Technical Services Manager to understand business needs to implement forward thinking business solutions. Mentor System Engineers who are assisting with environment designs and implementations. Represent Technical Services on appropriate enterprise Committees. Act as subject matter experts for IT policies and procedures.

·Provide the technical connection between the Technology Services Manager, Project Managers, System Engineers, Service Desk, Application Operations Support, Developers and end users to create technical architectures that are flexible, adaptable, resilient, scalable and stable that bring business value emphasizing continuous business productivity improvement and minimizing business downtime.

·Understand UCare and be able to dive deeply into a wide range of network and voice issues.

·Align business goals and the existing infrastructure to support the business and help achieve its goals.

·Ensure documentation of current state and provide a roadmap for future of network and voice systems that aligns with business strategy and goals.

·Collaborate with Project Leads to implement projects from a technological and architectural perspective and interact with all areas and levels of the organization.

·Collaborate with the Technology Services Manager, other IS areas and the business to advise them on key network and voice architectural decisions concerning the platform and the supporting technologies.

·Collaborate with the Technology Services Manager and team members and other IT areas for UCare's voice and network infrastructure improvements.

·Collaborate with external vendors and managed services to ensure their full value is delivered for voice and network services.

·Collaborate with Service Desk and Application Support to mentor and provide documentation for operational support of voice and network systems where applicable.

·Collaborate with the Technology Services Manager and team members and other IS areas to plan and position UCare's business continuity and disaster recovery processes for the infrastructure systems.

·Review changes/enhancements to infrastructure and make recommendations related to deploying enhancements to UCare's environment.

·Mentor team members to assist their technical and business skills.

·Other projects and duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 

Required Experience

Eight years of experience designing, building, and managing network and voice systems in an enterprise environment. Experience in working closely with management to ensure that systems and solutions align with business strategies and goals. In depth knowledge of network design, planning and implementing LANs, WANs and wireless networks with knowledge of applicable security, data privacy practices and laws. Knowledge of and experience in managing Cisco network hardware, F5 load balancers, Cisco Nexus with NX-OS, Cisco ASA firewalls, switches and routers.

Preferred Experience

Experience supporting contact/call centers. Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCVP or CCDA certification. Knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, Linux/Unix, and storage networking. Experience implementing ITIL methodologies. Experience with capacity planning, Data Center operations, infrastructure security processes, and management consulting experience in information technology. Knowledge of Cisco Communication Manager, Call Center Express, Quality Management, Unity, voice gateways, Jabber, and Telepresence. Ability to support, maintain, and manage Cisco telephony applications and systems in a dynamically changing environment.
