In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you'll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.  The exciting part of retail?   • Partner with Sr. Designers, Scientists, Merchants, Sourcing and Vendors to understand the business initiatives, product functional requirements and performance expectations to ensure consistency of product.
  • Exhibits an understanding of divisional strategic initiatives and proactively works to implement supporting design solutions.
  • Collaborate with Design Team in researching, designing and developing product by classification from concept through execution.
  • Create and design product through sketches, mood boards, renderings, models and control drawings that meet business strategy.
  • Develop and demonstrate a clear point of view/vision for the brand/product along with Sr. Designer using trend ideas, inspiration and market knowledge.
  • Identify recurring patterns & influences and translate inspiration into a saleable trend using multiple sources of media (competitive shopping, social media, runway shows, etc.) as well as creative intuition.
  • Collaborate with Merchants, Sourcing and Scientists to ensure product designs are manufacturable and meets set price-points. 
  • Uses artistic ability to edit or make changes to original designs that integrates key feedback and attains Merchant buy-in.
  • Review work on a regular basis with Director and Sr. Leaders.
  • Take part in Cross Functional Team meetings (including Design, Merchants, Sourcing, Packaging and Compliance).
  • Attend development meetings to represent Design point of view as appropriate.  Must use judgement/discretion to make decisions on product direction and changes or escalate appropriately.
  • Develop products that meet brand intent for style, quality, performance and value.
  • Conduct timely sample evaluations and ensure approval of all supported products.
  • Partner with Sr. Designer and vendors to ensure the brand vision is appropriately understood and executed.
  • Partner with vendors to understand current manufacturing processes, innovations and limitations.­­
  • Daily communication with external partners for product development and approvals.
  • Research and develop innovative product solutions.
Research
  • Responsible for researching trends in products & packaging to foster innovation.
  • Survey competitive landscape to develop best-in-class products by identifying trends as well as current and emerging competitors.
  • Stay on top of the latest beauty and lifestyle trends finding opportunities for new products, variations and ideas.
  • Market research - competitor product offerings & positioning to help guide strategy.
  • Guest empathy: Understand the overall Target guest, the core guest within the product/brand/category. Understand how the guest will use the product.
  • Attend conferences, trade shows and trainings to remain current on industry innovation and regulation climate
About you:
  • Four-year degree in design, fine art or related degree.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Passionate about the beauty industry.
  • Demonstrates a can-do attitude.
  • Technical skills:  Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or basic computer design system skills.
  • Demonstrated creative sense and ability including trend/market awareness.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills & ability to do creative, focused, visual presentations.
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate business and design details across various department levels.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
