The Recruitment and Event-planning Liaison will represent the Department of Music as the first point of contact for prospective students and families, assisting with recruitment activities, enrollment, and auditions, etc. In addition, the chosen candidate will assist with the planning, organization and execution of Department of Music on-campus events.

Expected weekly hours are 15-20 hrs/week. Hours may vary depending on event/program schedules. The majority of hours will take place during normal office hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Mon-Fri). There will be a few evening and weekend events.


  • Work and interact with students, staff and faculty across the university. To be effective, you will need to practice ethical standards and maintain a high level of professionalism, maturity and enthusiasm.
  • Assist in the planning, organization and execution of Department of Music on-campus events (e.g. High School String Day, Music Major Auditions, and the Jane Frazee Distinguished Scholar/Artist Annual Seminar). This position will interact with a diverse group of other campus departments. To be effective, you will need to demonstrate exceptional event/project/time management skills, strong written communication skills, and the ability to think big while also attending to detail.
  • Act as Department of Music recruitment liaison.
    • Work with admissions to schedule prospective student meetings and manage additional faculty/student meetings.
    • Represent the Department of Music at First Year Summer Orientation and Registration Information Fairs.
  • Social media – work with GPME Program Manager to execute a well-planned, effective, and in-brand social media strategy to grow engagement with the Department of Music – graduate and undergraduate populations.
  • Attend Department of Music monthly meetings.
  • Collaborate with full-time administrative staff on managing undergraduate student employees. To be effective, you will need to possess exceptional listening skills, the ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback, and an understanding of group dynamics and student development.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or the equivalent and two years of clerical/administrative support experience
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and skills with sophisticated multi-tasking ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to manage ambiguity
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Demonstrate mature decision-making in the work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in recruitment and event planning related to Fine Arts and the Department of Music
  • Prior experience supervising and/or working with undergraduate students preferred
