Humera is seeking multiple Laboratory Assistants to aid in the pre-analytical and post-analytical processes of diagnostic and therapeutic testing with our client located in New Brighton, MN. As a clinical laboratory assistant you will work in a fast paced, production type environment performing a vital component of medical laboratory science.   • Prepare laboratory specimens (blood, urine, and body fluids) for testing.
  • Make bulk reagents and empty waste
  • Prepare all paperwork, performs all procedures required to process and submit specimens
  • Assign specific computer generated identification numbers, check for accuracy, and record all items processed
  • Forward accessioned specimens to designated laboratory location(s), tracking all movement and location(s) through the data base
  • Locate, retrieve, and track movement of samples from various departments as requested
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked, organized work area
  • Perform required maintenance on equipment
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures including safety and quality standards

Skills and Qualifications

Required License/Certification/Education:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills necessary to deal effectively with co-workers and clients
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment to meet established turn-around-times
  • Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills
  • Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of office equipment and computer experience required
  • Maintain logs/records, proficiency with numbers, research information, and use computerized databases
  • Able to work independently under general supervision with excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Able to work in a fast paced production environment to meet established turnaround times
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of specimen types, tubes, and media
  • Able to decipher relevance of information on requisitions
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and Universal Precautions when dealing with patient sample
  • Previous experience in a production type environment is a plus


1st shift, 2nd shift, and 3rd shift positions are available. Start times may vary.
