Description: Sr. Merch Planner Primary Function The Sr. Merch Planner provides in-season decision support, collaborates on assortment planning, and leads demand forecasting in service of the divisional strategy through category expertise, and vendor/cross-functional partnership.   Category ownership is typically for high revenue, diverse/quickly changing businesses with complex consumer decision. Provides insight and advisement to Merch Planners to build the planning function's expertise.Key ResponsibilitiesIn-Season Decision Support
  • Drive open to buy process and decide category level investment and assortment validity to support financials.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for variation between supply and demand forecasts to support “chase-cancel” decisions
  • Communicate decision implications to vendors
  • Drive accountability for digital performance with same emphasis as in-store at category level
  • Manage vendor relationships and vendor compliance and accountability
Assortment Planning Collaboration
  • Run analytics and drive recommendations that shape up the assortment
  • Drive localization / channel recommendations (e.g. cluster types, profiles)
  • Conduct scenario planning to help optimize assortment
  • Build unit plans and conduct case pack analysis
  • Lead initial set planning and operationalization
Demand Forecasting
  • Create category level demand forecast and manage up approvals and roll up
  • Interpret forecast results, conduct “what if” analysis to support go forward recommendations when there are gaps
Event and End of Season Planning
  • Run promo planning forecast creation, maintenance and risk analysis; partner with Pricing and Promotions COE to finalize unit forecasts
  • Run event forecast creation and flow.
  • Analyze item lifecycles and drive recommendations on end of season management
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of Merchandising experience
  • Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills; can easily translate data from an array of sources into insights and recommendations
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with CFT
  • Flexibility, resiliency and nimbleness; comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing
