Program Support Assistant (SPS)
This position is under the Sterile Processing Services (SPS) Section of Nursing Services under the Nurse Executive Services. The incumbent participates actively in the management of the SPS Section as the Program Specialist to the Chief and Assistant Chief of Sterile Processing Services providing analytical and evaluative support to the SPS department.
Incumbent functions as the Program Specialist for administrative functions, and ADPAC for the Service Line and is responsible for a wide variety of functions related to the processes of the SPS department and Reusable Medical Equipment program throughout the facility and CBOC's.
These functions include financial analysis (calculations of obligations as compared to expenditures), trend tracking and reporting, accurate evaluation of results, and enhancement of procedures to meet workload demands and program goals. Incumbent serves as the subject matter expert for daily scope tracking data, instrumentation purchase agreements and pay for performance instrument repair contracts. Will be responsible for data by developing, interpreting, planning and applying policy to meet the program metrics and budgets by developing data collection
routines and reports. Workload maybe generated internally, by VISN request or nationally. The incumbent applies standard work and business rules to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal law and VA regulation. Programmatic changes will result in data collection and analysis changes.
Incumbent will develop electronic data management systems based on above collections and analysis needed to maintain critical operating information of the Service Line. Will take an idea regarding needed information and develop a working data management system that is readily accessible and understood by SPS and Nurse Executive Service Leaders and Supervisors to aid them in business decision making.
Responsible for data management for the service line. Responds to management's need for improved databases, data analysis of all scopes/instrumentation,- use, reuse, cleaning, disinfection, orders/reorders, repairs, end of life for all procedures performed in the hospital and CBOC, determines plans for new procedures and instrumentation needed with cost/benefit, and analysis of FTE needed to meet the demands of procedures for SPS; identify more efficient reporting methods by determining ways to apply computer capabilities to appropriate work records and administrative operations.
