Position Summary:

Manages safety programs to ensure safe and accident-free work environment. Implements safety key concepts to provide the road map to zero injuries and world class performance. Plans and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices. Studies causes of industrial accidents and recommends safety programs to address areas where the organization may be at risk. Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential accident hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures.

Position Responsibilities:                                                                                                                     

  1. Coordination of Plant Safety Program including maintenance and updating current safety programs including:
  • All OSHA compliance required tracking
  • Safety orientation
  • Accident investigation
  • First Aid Stations
  • Safety Checklists
  • Safety Rules
  • Maintenance of First Aid Stations
  1. Design/defines, implements, conducts, and/or organizes required safety programs including, but not limited to:
  • Right-To-Know/MSDS Employee Information Station labeling
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Emergency Response
  • Electrical Safety
  • Forklift Safety
  • Hot-Work program
  • Ergonomics
  • Process Safety Management
  1. Safety Committee(s) Coordinator
  • Safety Walkaround
  • Safety Awareness Programs
  • Facilitate Safety Meetings
  1. Develops and implements safety programs focused on reducing employee exposure along with facilitating employee return process. Tracking safety results Conducting environmental audits and completing reporting Active input to plant safety budget with the objective to plan and control Worker’s Compensation coordination with Human Resources effective management of claims and reduction in costs Training activities to include, but not limited to:
  • New employee orientation
  • GMP instruction and refresher training
  • On-the-job training – ensure checklists are developed as assigned
  1.  Management of onsite security

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

EDUCATION:   

 •    BA or BS degree in business, HR, Safety, manufacturing or related field

EXPERIENCE (YEARS/TYPE):

  • 5 years related experience preferably in a large plant as a specialty function or business unit safety leader
  • Exposure to multiple Supply Chain and other business disciplines (Purchasing, manufacturing, logistics, R&D, etc.) in previous positions or project work preferred
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing unit operations.

Exposure to productivity/continuous improvement methodology in previous positions
