The Administrative Officer (AO) performs as staff resource and assistant to the Director, Surgical & Specialty Care Service Line and has the primary responsibility for the management of all administrative programs and reporting systems essential for the S/L. The AO serves as supervisory to the Program Analyst, ADPAC, Supervisory MSA, Office Automation Assistant and the Administrative Support Assistant.


  • Supervises and assigns work to subordinate staff, develops performance standards, identifies their education needs and arranges for training and evaluates their work.
  • Responsible to work with Service Line Director to plan, organize, evaluate, coordinate and implement the complex administrative activities.
  • Develops both long and short-range policies and plans for the service line by coordinating medical administration needs.
  • Assists in strategic planning and fiscal management of the Service Line.
  • Serves as an agent in the investigation and resolution of problems between and within services.
  • Maintains awareness of available resources and makes recommendations to medical center leadership regarding resource needs and the distribution of these resources.
  • Gathers and analyzes budget needs and supervises all phases of budgeting within the service line.
  • Integrate varied databases to bring sophisticated data together into one comprehensive report.
