Prosecution and Legal Assistant
Chestnut Cambronne PA, a mid-size law firm in downtown Minneapolis and a Star Tribune 2018 Top Workplace, is seeking a skilled legal assistant to support its criminal prosecution and civil litigation practice. The ideal candidate is highly organized, is accurate, and can prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Criminal law experience and familiarity with criminal court practice is preferred, but not required. The Legal Assistant would have duties assisting in prosecution for a local jurisdiction as well as providing support to another civil litigation attorney.
Duties pertaining to the prosecution practice include: preparing criminal complaints; maintaining prosecution materials for arraignment, pretrial, and trial calendars; responding to discovery; witness notification; and developing relationships with persons related to that practice. Duties pertaining to the support of the civil litigation practice include: calendaring and scheduling dates in Outlook with appropriate reminders; maintaining electronic and paper client files; filing documents with courts, including e-filing, e-service and federal ECF; preparing correspondence; preparing exhibits for depositions and trial; and consistent communication with the attorney being supported. Effective oral and written communication skills are a must. The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of MNCIS Odyssey Assistant is preferred but not required.
