Position Description

This position is responsible to plan, document, coordinate, architect, and lead all activities related to the standards and integration of software programs, applications, and third-party solutions as required to meet business requirements of the organization.  This individual is also responsible for developing and maintaining an application integration architecture blueprint for the organization.  This individual will oversee testing of the interoperability of application modules under development by in-house software development teams; commercial off-the-shelf software deployed in the organization; and with external third parties as necessary.  The software architect requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as creativity and the ability to work with abstract concepts.  Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment because this role works with business partners (leadership), technical teams, and end-users to successfully develop and implement UCare applications.

·Collaborate with business partners, IS team leads, project leads, business analysts, end users and third party contacts to design, develop and implement software applications.

·Collaborate with Enterprise Architect and other architects to develop a stable and scalable technology environment.

·Develop, document and maintain an integration architecture blueprint for the organization.

·Orchestrate integration projects and corresponding strategies between business units and development teams.

·Research and make recommendations on integration products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.

·Verify that all software projects adhere to established architecture standards.

·Lead engineers, analysts and designers in conceptualizing and developing new software programs and applications.

·Plan phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects.

·Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and architecture and functional specifications.

·Research and document technical architectural requirements of software users.

·Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

·Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.

·Lead the software engineers to consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.

·Lead the team in monitoring software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.

·Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.

·Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.

·Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.

·Install software products for end users as required.

·Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary.

·Collaborate with other members of the IS department to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.

·Other projects and duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 

Required Experience

Ten or more years of software development experience. Five or more years of software architecture standards and processes. Expert technical knowledge of programming languages, including Unix Shell Scripting, Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, .net, and BizTalk . Experience working with enterprise applications, vendor and internal desktop applications. Experience with Visual Studio 2010, Programmer Studio, and Toad.  Expert working in integrated development environments, including Oracle, Unix, and Micro focus COBOL. Extensive experience with HP UX operating systems. Expert with Microsoft suite of development tools, including SQL, BizTalk, and C# .net. Ability to translate business requirements in to technical architecture specifications. Knowledge the Healthcare industry including Enrollment, billing, and Claims Processing.  Software troubleshooting experience and knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.  Experience with specific phases of the software development life cycle, especially developing functional requirements, software development, and unit testing.  Expert with software development methodologies.

Amisys Advance Release 6, CCMS and Macess EXP & Formworks architecture.
