This role serves as the primary business contact and for internal and external parties regarding certain payment acceptance strategies, relationships, requirements, systems and processes. Key focus areas include developing and sharing deep subject matter expertise regarding the systematic processes surrounding certain accepted payment types as well as payment authorization, settlement and reconciliation.


·Acts as the primary business lead for specific tenders and/or payment acceptance processes for all Target channels.Responsible for expertise building, knowledge sharing, and providing requirements and design considerations for payment acceptance technology.

·Monitors tender and process trends and investigates payment issues, escalating as needed.Participates in evaluation of payment trends and solutions for fit with Target strategy, ensuring compliance with payment processing contracts and payment network rules.

·Provides subject matter expertise to payment partners including through participation in agile development teams for payment acceptance.Primary business partner included in the planning, prioritizing, developing and implementing system changes related to payment acceptance and operations.Responsible for directing business case development to support prioritization efforts.

·Responsible for institutionalizing payment knowledge within the Payment Acceptance and Payment product teams by creating and maintaining documentation and actively developing backups.

·Researches payment industry trends to recommend payment processing changes at Target.Provides input into payment acceptance capability roadmap.

·Executes benchmarking initiatives around tender acceptance.Communicates areas of opportunity and recommends changes. 

·Acts as a business contact for payment acceptance development for processors.Initiates vendor development efforts in support of acceptance efforts and engages daily with processors.

·Manages payment configuration on vendor system, ensuring alignment to Target's business rules.

·Analyzes payment network rules and mandates related to payment processing, recommends project and process changes, prioritization and oversees implementation.

·Advocates for specific changes in the payment industry with payment processors.

·Partners with IRM, FRS and TTS teams throughout the assessment process to ensure compliance to the Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards for systems that are owned by Payment Acceptance.

·Supports payment capability by providing business validation and other testing for technical changes and system maintenance.

·Engages in technical incident response for payment acceptance issues to assist with recovery and remediation.Ensures technical issues related to payment acceptance are properly communicated.

·Provides superior customer service to Target Financial and Retail Services, and supports business/management


·B.A./B.S. degree

·Minimum 3+ years business experience

·Proven ability to work with business needs, technology and compliance at both a strategic and tactical level

·Track record of working productively in highly ambiguous situations

·Proven critical thinking and problem solving skills

·Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
