Description: The Inventory Planning Control team is responsible for defining and operating Target's Inventory Planning and Control (IPC), systems. This team is responsible for the system that Inventory managers will use to get recommended order quantity, implement automatic ordering, decide how much inventory to buy, when to bring inventory into the target network, and where to position it.  The IPC team innovates, continuously improves processes that result in sophisticated, intelligent and self-learning models. IPC is unique in that we are simultaneously developing the science of supply chain planning at Target and responsible for studying, designing, and building systems to suit Target's needs.  The Sr Inventory Intel Manager is a key part of the IPC team to analyze information from the system, develop recommendations and provide them to internal partners and users of the system.  This role will use their analytics, problem solving and curiosity to apply advanced statistics and data mining techniques to analyze and make insights from big data such as historical production data and simulation/experiment results.

1. Regularly monitor and use IPC reporting to identify opportunities and diagnose positioning defects to find “root causes”.
2. Assist inventory management team in the use of IPC reporting and metrics
3. Support Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs) of IPC metrics by sharing insights, trends and ability to answer questions related to published metric
4. Conduct analysis and understand business impacts of IPC outputs to develop business rules to enable IPC exception monitoring
5. Provide user feedback on metric and report usability and usefulness
a. Suggest enhancements (visualizations, drill paths, calculations, etc.)
b. Suggest new metrics/reports
c. Suggest elimination/consolidation of metrics/reports
6. Build ad-hoc reporting necessary to execute root cause to drive deep understanding of the problems/defects and action across core process
7. Work with inventory management and other IPC end-users to understand business requirements for creating new IPC metrics and optimizations
8. Useful background: MP / MP Ops, root cause troubleshooting, combining data sources (Excel/Domo/Access/etc.)
9. Works collaboratively with many different functional areas (EDABI, Product, Technology etc.) to define and assist in the prioritization of new system capabilities and features. 
10. Contributes to overall vision and direction of IPC through the use of data, insights and deep understanding of Target's business

Reports to the, Director of Inventory Planning and Control (IPC).  Working relationships with Process Engineering, EDABI, Global Supply Chain, Merchandising, Operational Excellence, Stores, TTS, and third party providers.

• Bachelor's degree in math, advanced statistics, business, operations research, and/or supply chain or equivalent experience in an operations research, statiscs or supply chain analysis/operations business environment
• Experience in inventory planning concepts - forecasting, planning, optimization, and logistics - gained through work experience
• A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
• Ability to communicate complex concepts in easy to understand terminology with multiple audiences
• Experience in utilization of predictive analytics to drive root cause analysis and build leading indicators to influence process engineering
• Demonstrated skills in interpreting data concepts/vision/needs to build drillable, detailed, probability based reporting to highlight complex problems and influence invention of process
• Proven experience achieving results by leading, partnering, and influencing others
• Demonstrated experience in strategic, cross-functional leadership, planning and execution
• Experience in time series analysis, predictive modeling, A/B testing, controlled experiments
• Ability to develop system prototypes
• Experience utilizing problem solving and analytical skills
• Technical aptitude and familiarity with the design and use of complex logistics software systems
• Ability to adjust priorities to the everchanging needs of the business to consistently deliver to our guests
Desired Requirements:
• Useful background in Merch Planning or Merch Planning Operations to root cause troubleshooting, combining data sources (Excel/Domo/Access/etc.)
