A company in Shakopee, MN is looking for an experienced Mechanical Assembler on 1st or 2nd shift! The pay range is between $15-17 per hour, depending on experience. The hours for 1st shift are 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, and the hours for 2nd shift are 2:30pm-1:00am, Monday-Thursday. 

Under limited supervision, qualified candidates will assemble mechanical parts or units (such as clutch/brake modules, spring set brakes, electromagnetic clutches/brakes, and various other mechanical type products) and position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, sub-assemblies, or frames, using hand tools and power tools. Candidates will also be primarily operating the magnetizing machine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form sub-assemblies and final assemblies.  
  • Regular work will include using hand and power tools
  • Regular work will include referring to and reading blueprints
  • Operation of magnetizing machine
  • Positioning, aligning and adjusting of parts for proper fit and assembly
  • Connecting wires, cables etc. by crimping, soldering, brazing or and  other methods required for the assembly
  • Fastening parts together using bolting and riveting equipment or other fastening and joining techniques
  • Inspection and testing of assemblies, and other goods
  • Diagnose, disassemble and repair of defective or returned goods
  • Prioritize assembly orders according to material and demand
  • Locate and pull parts for the order.
  • Considerable lifting of goods and material (up to 100 lbs.—Team Lifting is promoted) 
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition

Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
Mathematical Skills:
• Familiarity with English and metric units of measure
Language/Communication Skills:
• Ability to work with other departments 
Other Skills/Abilities/Specifications:
• Ability to do accurate work at a rapid pace
• Good hand eye coordination
• Good mechanical aptitude
• Good eyesight, with or without glasses

• Ability to do considerable lifting, up to 100 lbs. (team lift)
• Reach parts on shelves that reach from ground level up to 8 feet.
• Lift trucks, pallet jacks, or motorized forklifts are available for parts on higher shelves.
• Occasional bending and twisting.
