Position Summary Information Position Responsibilities

St. Catherine University, St. Paul campus, invites applications for a full-time position as Director of Alumnae/i Relations in Institutional Advancement. The Director of Alumnae/i Relations actively promotes the engagement between St. Catherine University and its alumnae/i for the positive benefit of both. The Director develops, oversees and implements engagement strategies which result in enhanced participation and support. This position is responsible for building strategies for the entire alumnae/i body of 48,000+ ensuring engagement opportunity for each of the Colleges within the University. To this end, the Director will oversee strategy for volunteer structure/volunteers and alumnae/i events. The Director will manage a small, dedicated team and a budget.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage a team of three to four employees
• Create short and long terms strategies to engage alumnae/i from all three Colleges, across age bands and with diverse backgrounds and experiences
• Serve as public face for the University, communicating information and inspiring alumnae/i to action
• Oversee events strategy and execution, volunteer and strategy structures
• Provide oversight and intersection with leadership of each/any volunteer groups
• Communicate and oversee strategy across team; interface with University colleagues; develop and oversee budget to support strategies

The Director of Alumnae Relations must be a strategic leader who understand and embraces the mission of the University. Sh/e must be skilled in developing and executing strategies which broaden and deepen alumnae/i engagement across all 3 Colleges and a diverse base of alumnae/i. S/he must be a strong communicator who listens carefully and works collaboratively with a variety of internal and external constituents. The Director is a key working partner with all areas of Institutional Advancement and fundraising in particular.

Position Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree and 7-10 years of alumnae/i relations or related experience; Master degree preferred
• Ability to create and lead strategy, inspire and attract alumnae to engage with the University
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team to success
• Supervisory experience of other staff and/or volunteers is necessary
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with continuous attention to detail
• Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships, working successfully with diverse individuals with a variety of work and communication styles, both internally and externally
• Self-starter who can demonstrate initiative
• The incumbent must have the ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families, and communities
