Pro Staff in partnership with a large ethanol plant in Lake Crystal is looking for a qualified Controller to join out team! As the Controller you will be the point of contact for the biorefinery and manage a small accounting team. You will be responsible for all accounting duties, including but not limited to financial reporting and analysis, asset management, treasury management, technical accounting analysis and internal control and forecasting. Compensation for this positions is based upon qualifications. 
Finance- The controller is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of all financial transactions.
  • Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare, review and analyze financial statements and supporting documents
  • Prepare and communicate financial reporting package to management
  • Prepare and review forecast information
  • Interact with external auditors
 Treasury – The controller is responsible for optimizing cash uses and sources.
  • Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts
  • Manage operating lines of credit
  • Maintain working relationship with banking partner
  • Review and authorize vendor and producer payments
Compliance – The controller is responsible for ensuring the plant is in compliance with all regulatory agencies, and that a proper control environment is established and maintained.
  • Support a strong internal control environment while assessing and mitigating gaps in design or implementation of controls
  • Prepare and monitor bank covenant compliance and borrowing base calculations
  • Prepare all local tax documents and forms required by county, state and federal regulatory organizations
  • Review and analyze payroll and payroll taxes; including quarterly and annual reporting requirements
Human Resources – The controller is responsible for administering human resources functions according to POET’s Standard Operating Procedures to include hiring, performance evaluation, training, and exit documentation.
  • Prepare payroll
  • Coach and lead team members using a performance management process
  • Manage worker compensation process, including notifying carrier of claims, processing requests and communicating with HR and EHS representatives
Other – The controller is responsible for fostering a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance while maintaining a high level of customer service, a friendly atmosphere, and teamwork with other departments.
  • Assist with basic maintenance of computer and software systems
  • Project management duties as assigned
  • Assist POET Plant Management in determining solutions for business needs and implementing resolutions
  • Coordinate annual meeting with board of directors and members
  • Effectively manages team by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training team members. Leadership responsibilities also include delegation, coaching and performance management and career development to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times
  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of full charge accounting experience 
  • CPA, CMA or public accounting experience required
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
