Position Summary:

To assist administration with planning, recommending, designing, implementing, managing, and continuously improving city-wide information technology data and voice systems along with the associated network infrastructure to ensure they consistently and reliably support departmental and end-users’ current and future requirements.

This position supervises, coaches, and mentors Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians in the performance of backroom operations and desktop support, fulfilling those roles when warranted.

Essential Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes:

1) Cost-effective plans, recommendations, designs, deployment, management, and continuous improvement of city-wide, reliable information technology IT solutions which support end-users’ requirements.

2) Customer and end-user satisfaction with IT products and services.

3) A secure and reliable infrastructure.

4) Vendor selection and vendor management.

5) Annual IT budget preparation and administration.

6) Administration and maintenance of the City’s local cable Channel 16.

7) Up-to-date and relevant IT infrastructure-related documentation.

8) Supervision of IT Technician I and IT Technician II positions.

9) Performance of other job-related responsibilities as apparent or directed.

Typical Working Environment:

Work is typically performed in an inside, temperature-controlled environment. There is an expectation of attendance at evening / off-hours meetings as scheduled or requested.

This position is required to be on call 24/7 and assumes that non-emergent work required for system upgrades or maintenance will be done off hours.

Typical Physical Requirements for this Position:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Selection Criteria to Qualify for this Position:

Minimal job requirements:

- Minimum of 5 years’ related experience in a senior level IT position.

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
