Team and Job DescriptionThe Inventory Planning Control team is responsible for defining  and operating Target's Inventory Planning and Control (IPC) systems and coming up with the overall inventory strategy. This team is responsible for defining the system that Inventory Mangers will use to get recommended order quantity, strategizing how the company should manage its multi-echelon inventory network, implementing automated ordering, deciding how much inventory to buy, when to bring inventory into the Target network, and where to position it. The IPC team innovates and continuously improves processes that result in sophisticated, intelligent and self-learning models. This role will be within the Inventory Health pillar of IPC, specifically responsible for leading strategy and optimization based initiatives to drive the efficiency of Target's supply chain. The team member for this role will need to bring extensive knowledge of business & supply chain along with comfort in working with a team that uses advanced statistical, simulation and modeling techniques and collaborates with data science, product, and technology partners to transform Target's supply chain.The team member in this role will work with a broad set of supply chain stakeholders, internal and field facing supply chain team members, data and analytics teams, merchant organization and technology partners to collaborate on the best solutions to optimize for cost, speed, accuracy, and simplicity. Following are the key expectations for the role:

  • Lead, manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams, business partners, and stakeholders to deliver new or evolved capabilities for Target's Supply Chain and Logistics organization
  • Partner heavily across teams within GSCL; and with other pillars across Target as required.
  • Leverage project management tools and methods to ensure on time delivery of expected scope at expected level of performance
  • Internally monitor progress of initiatives, quantify business impact and track to business goals
  • Support communication to project sponsors of work progress including milestone achievement, decisions and risks
  • Rapidly develop an understanding of the end-to-end customer experience and dependencies on other areas
  • Guide initiative to solve business challenges and make data driven decisions
  • Foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles

  • Bachelor's degree; preferably with a quant, economics or business major
  • 3+ years of experience with project and/or program management
  • Experience managing multiple, highly complex initiatives at one time
  • Experience self-directing work in a fast-paced environment
  • Retail experience and knowledge of supply chain
  • Expertise doing data analysis in Excel; basic understanding of queries, databases and statistical techniques
  • Ability to articulate problems/opportunities to multiple levels in the company and lead discussions founded in data
