Under direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of tasks to aid the Clinical Care Coordinators in the successful delivery and coordination of patient care. Essential duties include providing excellent customer/patient services via phone and in person; making appointments for patients according to established clinic protocols; assisting patients/clients with completing forms. The position is considered a crucial link between the patient and the care delivered by clinical staff of the clinic. The incumbent must work collaboratively with all clinical staff in support of direct patient services, exhibiting flexibility and a “can do, will do” attitude. Patient services are the key priority in this position requiring the Medical Assistant to serve as a point of contact with other internal and external specialties, all with the goal of fostering an environment that promotes patient comfort and trust. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost professionalism, discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                  

  1.  CT Scans
    1. Assisting patients with in-office CT’s- positioning, obtaining image, uploading, and routing patient through next clinical step
  2.  Lab Draws and Injections
    1. Peripheral blood draws
    2. Specimen collection & handling
    3. IM and Sub-Q injections
  1.  Supply Maintenance
    1.  Ordering of medical supplies
    2.  Stocking of medical supplies
    3.  Inventory of medical supplies
  1.  Instrument sterilization
    1.  Sterile processing
    2.  Room stocking
    3.  Autoclave maintenance
  1. Filing Electronic Faxes

    a)    Electronically file incoming faxing into appropriate areas within patient’s charts

    b)    Assign faxes to designated team

  1. Recalls

    a)   Coordination of recalls to nursing

    b)   Calling patients for designated recalls

    c)   Ordering appropriate recalls

  2. Medication PA’s

    a)   Medication prior authorizations

    b)   Communication with patients regarding these authorizations

    c)   Communication with providers when necessary (medication coverage issues and medication changes)


  •  Chart prepping to ensure appropriate results and reports are available prior to appointments
  •  Other duties as deemed appropriate and needed by care coordinators and/or clinical supervisor


Current MN CMA license in good standing

Associates Degree or other equivalent education credits

1+ years experience as a CMA, however new grads also considered

Current BLS certification
