Star Tribune has an exciting opportunity for an Account Executive on our Advertising team. The primary responsibility of the Account Executive is to enhance, expand, and create new relationships while selling a full print and digital product portfolio to large national and regional accounts.  This individual will maintain a comprehensive understanding of competitive media, and will be expected to leverage the breadth of the Star Tribune product line to strategically drive our customer’s business objectives.  A successful Account Executive will have a high level of expertise in marketing communications and will focus efforts on identifying and executing target initiatives that will successfully grow their book of business. The ideal candidate will have a "hunter" mentality as s/he focuses on acquiring new business.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years successful sales experience required, preferably with demonstrated territory management skills 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to achieve goals while working across different business units

  • Ability to use predictive revenue modeling and accurately forecast revenue
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex organizations and agencies

  • Proven track record of cultivating new agency relationships
  • Highly developed negotiation, presentation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to sell wide range of products and services

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer programs (Internet, PowerPoint, Contact Management, etc.) and mobile sales applications

  • Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance and have reliable transportation 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A consultative seller that thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment

  • 5 years experience selling media channels to national and regional advertisers

  • Knowledge of traditional and digital media solutions
  • Ability to probe and develop a comprehensive understanding of customer needs

  • Proven track record of implementing a concrete sales plan and optimizing closing ratios based on business needs
