Position Description

This position is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies, programs, and tactics - across all channels and audiences - that meet business and organizational goals for the assigned product line(s). This includes leading, coordinating, and collaborating with other key stakeholders and business units across the organization to ensure alignment of product positioning, programs, communications, and effectiveness in the market and with target audiences.

·Develop and execute measurable category/product 3-year Strategic Marketing Plan and Annual Marketing Plan to include marketing strategies, programs, tactics, and communications plans designed to meet product enrollment and retention growth goals in alignment with product roadmap, company strategic plan and actions, and company mission. Understand and adhere to allocated spending budgets, adjusting in response to shifts in tactics and new opportunities.

·Organize and lead cross-functional Matrix Team to bring together product management, sales, communications leads, marketing (agency, digital, design, PR) and other key ad hoc stakeholders (health promotion, provider relations, quality, etc.) to review and support: the marketing strategy, marketing plan execution and measurement, and to evaluate and drive opportunities for growth; Ensure input and collaboration among team members and stakeholders. Track and report marketing campaign results through a team marketing dashboard.

·Collaborate with Product Management to understand product performance and to adjust marketing strategy and tactics in response to customer behavior and results. Align marketing plan materials to support new product introductions and adjustments to existing products with full preparation to include communications, advertisements and promotions. Participate in product teams and product roadmap planning and other activities as appropriate.

·Collaborate with Sales to ensure alignment of marketing strategy with sales planning. Responsible for providing appropriate sales tools to support their sales activities, events, and goal achievement based on key initiatives, including enrollment meeting materials, event support, training, etc. Adjust and course correct as needed throughout the plan year cycle.

·Collaborate with Communications, Public Relations, and with external communications and agency partners to develop annual communications plan with campaigns, messaging, and tactics that align with and support achievement of the annual marketing strategies and plan; Partner to execute materials, events, activities to support the plan; ensure products are maintained within online tools, website, printed catalogs and price lists, and other written training and support materials. Partner with public relations staff to develop media relationships and drive category PR.

·Collaborate with Collaborate with agency and vendor partners on product advertisement campaigns and direct mail, based on communications and marketing plans.

·Meet annually or as needed with key stakeholders in other departments to ensure alignment of materials and activities to marketing plan and market strategies. Together with Communications Lead and agency partners, provide tools and support to other work groups and departments to accomplish objectives. (Example would be Health Promotion, Quality/Stars, Pharmacy, Clinical, Provider Relations, Member Experience, etc.).

·Measure results of campaigns and programs; adjust and report as needed.

·Prepare and present marketing plan key elements to leadership and other stakeholders at key company meetings and events.

·Collaborate with Product Manager on activities to support the growth of business, including category-related research, monitoring of competitor activities and industry dynamics, and involvement with trade associations.

·Serve as the subject matter expert and advocate for marketing strategy, marketing plan, and marketing execution.

·Collaborate with market managers to exploit cross-segment opportunities and collaborative projects. Lead or participate in cross-functional projects and teams that tie into marketing planning and execution.

·Follow department and company guidelines and procedures.

·Other special projects and duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field; MBA preferred. Demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 

Required Experience

Five years' experience in marketing, strategy, or product management, marketing either a service or product portfolio; or three years' experience in marketing, strategy, or product management with MBA. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. 

Preferred Experience

Three years' experience in health care market preferred. Business to consumer experience a plus. Experience working in a government-regulated industry.
