BEHAVIORAL HEALTH (BH) MANAGER ($5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS)

 

Position Description

This position is responsible to oversee the operational aspects of behavioral health services including oversight of staff.  Collaborate with BH Associate Director and other UCare departments to improve daily operations that enable staff to better serve our members and providers.   Responsibilities include coordination of operational interfaces, facilitation of cross-department initiatives, support of development and planning initiatives, issue resolution, process improvement and development of policies and procedures.  Collaborate with peers across departments and serve as the behavioral health representative on both internal and external committees and/or work groups as assigned by the BH Associate Director.  Interpret and apply state and federal regulatory mandates in performing operational assessments. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

 

Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of UCare's BH functions with a focus on utilization management. 

Ensure that behavioral health services meet or exceed requirements set by regulatory agencies, including the Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Department of Health, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, and the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Collaborate with the BH leaders to establish UCare's behavioral health strategies and work within the organization to develop a work plan to execute on behavioral health strategies.

Develop BH policies, procedures, staff matrix and training, and performance standards.  Provide leadership and direction to staff in the department including mentoring and coaching as appropriate. 

Monitor the performance of behavioral health services (BH dashboard) and oversee the identification and evaluation of initiatives responding to utilization patterns and behavioral services costs (BH Utilization Management Workgroup).

Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of new and existing products relative to behavioral health functions, and ensure behavioral health services are integrated into new products.

Represent UCare BH services in internal and external behavioral health work groups or initiatives as assigned by BH Associate Director.

Partner with clinical and behavioral health leaders to organize and maintain behavioral health related training materials for external customers, including product information and updates, care coordination manuals, BH newsletters, etc.

Facilitate behavioral health related projects as assigned.  Prepare and implement project plan, statement of work, and/or process flow related to different projects, and prepare basic results analysis as needed.

Collaborate with Clinical Services, Quality Management, and other departments to develop integrated care model(s).

Support the values of UCare by fostering enthusiasm and employee engagement among staff for community involvement, collaboration with other departments, and active participation on UCare's various committees and work groups.

Other projects and duties as assigned.  

Education

Bachelor's or Associate Degree or Diploma prepared RN.  Current and unrestricted Minnesota State Board of Nursing license required.

 

Required Experience

Four years experience in behavioral health clinical management in a health plan, managed care organization, clinical setting, or other related experience.

 

Preferred Experience

Utilization review experience.   Leadership experience.  Knowledge of Medicaid or Medicare managed care programs.
