Description:   Join us as an:Sr Engineer - Compute Hardware EngineeringAs an Engineer on the Compute Hardware team, you will leverage your development skills to create, enhance and support our Metal as a Service and other infrastructure-as-code products that manage the breadth of platforms and products hosted in Target's data center server environments.  You'll develop keen insight into infrastructure architecture and deliver robust and scalable infrastructure as code components.  Participate in infrastructure product development and design initiatives to streamline operations and maximize the performance and stability of Target's compute environment.About us:

As an engineer, you'll take the lead as you…
  • Develop and support our Metal as a Service (MaaS) and other infrastructure-as-code products used to manage Target's Data Center server environments
  • Actively review code to ensure product quality, functional accuracy and best practices are maintained across the team.
  • Contribute to research, documentation and proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies.
  • Use your technology acumen to assist with evaluation of new technologies and contribute to the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership assessment
  • Resolve escalated issues, adhere to change and incident management standards, and manage technical operations with little or no oversight.
  1. About you:
    • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
    • 5-7 years of software development experience
    • Demonstrates strong domain-specific knowledge regarding Target's technology capabilities, and key competitors' products and differentiating features
    • Working knowledge on package-specific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions
    • Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
    • Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain
    • Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
    • Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
    • Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
    • Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm
    • Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)
    • Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures
    • Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
    • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience developing infrastructure-as-code automation using Ruby or Sinatra
  • Chef and DevOps tool chain knowledge
  • Server System Admin experience
