Materials / Inventory Planner - Job Description

King Technology, Inc., a national growing leader in the design and manufacture of water disinfection equipment for the swimming pool/spa industry. The corporate office in Hopkins is seeking a skilled & motivated I/C & Purchasing Assistant to join their team. 

Position Description:

The materials and inventory planner responsibilities include both demand management and inventory planning of specific product lines. They will plan inventory, schedule manufacturing orders and coordinate the flow of work and materials to meet delivery expectations of forecasted and actual sales while minimizing inventory levels.  The position will coordinate the shipment and logistics of all customer orders to meet customer demands and on time shipping metrics.  The planner will reflect demand changes in our planning systems to ensure high accuracy of forecast needs and ensure accuracy in inventory records, item usage history, and forecasting files.

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With guidance from Sr. Production Planner develop production and inventory management plans to support both material and finished good requirements
  • Identify current and potential product shortages, develop and execute recovery, advise interested parties of status and recovery plans
  • Release manufacturing orders based on material requirements planning (MRP) and coordinate the flow of material throughout the production cycle
  • Coordinate with Purchasing for availability of raw materials
  • Coordinate material movement between vendors, warehouse and the production floor
  • Assist in the development, implementation, analysis and coordination of the master production schedule
  • Utilize Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) to ensure that data is accurate and up to date
  • Facilitate transmittal of customer orders to distribution center and manufacturing facilities including shipment and paperwork of international orders; serve as key contact for customer service inquiries
  • Maintain and update master files [items, vendors, etc.] including new item setup
  • Set up and monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy
  • Thoroughly review, familiarize and understand existing BOM structure as well as the physical products
  • Key participant in developing and managing company SOP, assembly & parts drawing database process
  • Manage inventory levels to meet corporate goals
  • Coordinate and manage monthly cycle counts for all manufacturing locations and distribution center; key participant in annual physical inventory
  • Support inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy; investigate & reconcile discrepancies & negatives
  • Posting of daily production and inventory transactions
  • Analyze data and collaborate with Sr. Production Planner to determine and apply appropriate ordering,

inventory, and replenishment policies

  • Key point person & contributor in RGA processing procedures
  • Code and prepare proper paperwork for billing and authorization of invoices per defined processes
  • Provide department capacity plans, on a weekly basis
  • Assist in maintaining the monthly KPI
  • Provide reports and requested information as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA Degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years professional experience in manufacturing planning, inventory control or materials planning role
  • APICS certification
  • Knowledge and experience with Sales & Operations Planning
  • Strong understanding of MRP and supply chain software
  • Advanced computer skills, Excel experience mandatory
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills
  • Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills
