Position Description

This position is responsible to provide actuarial support to the organization and management. Perform analysis of Medicaid and Medicare data including pricing, risk adjustment and population analytics. Support the Medicare Bidding process with assumption development. Develop and enhance reporting and dashboards to track product performance and competitive environment. Draft memos and create documentation to support assumptions and actuarial processes.

·Update, manage and enhance tools for the annual CMS Medicare Advantage Bidding process including base period development, population analytics, and risk adjustment. Work closely with actuarial staff during bid development. Support trend development.

·Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to support medical management, product development, competitive landscape and business strategy.

·Maintain documentation of actuarial processes to support Medicare Bid submission and understanding of the CMS Part C Bidding process. Support and document actuarial reporting for department.

·Establish and maintain a strong understanding of CMS guidance and regulations for Medicare and Medicaid rates. Assess financial impacts of changes to revenue payments, benefits, provider rules/rates, or other processes specified by CMS.

·Continue to grow and learn new programming skills that can be applied to provide ongoing financial analysis and support to management decision making, internal/external reporting, and ongoing financial/data support to internal customers.

·Establish and maintain a strong understanding of UCare product lines, reporting requirements, and health care industry  

·Represent Health Care Economics on UCare cross-departmental projects as an active contributor and supporting resource.

·Ad hoc analysis and backup support as needed

·Other projects and duties as assigned.


B.S. in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred; demonstrated programming/financial analysis experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Two years related experience in Actuarial consulting or direct health insurance industry experience. Two Exams Passed and completion of VEE credits.

Intermediate to advanced skills using Excel. 

Preferred Experience

Medicare Part C and Part D bidding experience. SQL and SAS experience.
