Description: Director Logistics - Middle Mile Operations 
The Director Logistics-Middle Mile Operations will report to the Senior Director-Outbound Transportation. As a member of the Outbound Transportation leadership team, the preferred candidate will have a history of team leadership that includes the ability to provide definition and direction for new teams as well as be proficient in managing projects in a fast paced and operationally demanding environment. 
The role will be responsible for leading a diverse team consisting of tactical response and field support elements as well as program and project management supporting both short and long term Outbound Transportation goals in support of the Greater Global Supply Chain objectives including Target's Small Format and Food programs as well as strategy and operational management of Target's trailer fleet. Longer term goals will include establishing processes and Best Practices for Transportation operations and stakeholder engagement including partnering with Target's Transportation Command Center by defining and developing the monitoring capabilities and response playbooks needed for a rapidly evolving Transportation strategy oriented around precision and agility.  

Primary responsibilities of this role would include:

  • Lead team to achieve short and long term goals and objectives, support our field logistics partners by providing centralized response and troubleshooting, and drive continuous improvement of current middle mile transportation strategy and utilization of assets.
  • Root cause analysis and problem solving for both tactical response and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong Project Management experience providing the organizational core for the broader Outbound team
  • Strong collaboration, coaching and influencing skills with the ability to work across both immediate teams and broader Supply Chain and cross Pyramid stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking-ability to brainstorm on complex problems and leverage thought leadership to provide solutions.
  • Strong communication skills-ability to draft narratives, frame problem statements, present in a variety of different settings to teams and senior leadership.
