The Veterans Affairs Health Care System (MVAHCS) in Minneapolis, Minnesota seeks a full time BE/BC Nephrologist to serve as the Section Chief in Nephrology. Candidates with VA merit awards and/or NIH grants along with track record of impressive academic commitment and recognition at mid-career level, including basic or clinical scientist physician nephrologists, are strongly encouraged to examine this opportunity. The Minneapolis VAHCS is a busy tertiary care medical center which provides service to veterans with complex renal diseases. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality patient care, to fellow and resident education, and to faculty development. He/she will have training and/or a track record in academic pursuits and should be dedicated to continued scholarship. Responsibilities will include supervising 3 other full time nephrologists and 3 renal nurse practitioners. Additionally, the incumbent will provide patient care (outpatient and inpatient) for chronic and end-stage kidney disease, fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base disorders, as well as trainee supervision and education, and production of scholarly materials. As an academic nephrologist, the incumbent will be an active participant of the teaching program, will lead clinical activities within the nephrology service, and will be responsible for fostering the academic careers of faculty members and trainees. The Minneapolis VAHCS is affiliated with the University of Minnesota and the applicant should be eligible for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at the University of Minnesota, Department of Medicine.
