The Supply Chain team at Target is building new capabilities across the enterprise to support a modernized network to support the growing business across stores, distribution centers, and .com.  The Purchase Order team is responsible for building and maintaining Target's modern execution tool that is used for creating and communicating over 1 million purchases per year to over 5,000 external vendors, consolidators, de-consolidators, banks, and brokers.As an Engineer on the Purchase Orders team you will be responsible for building out a new set of capabilities for the product that include core services as well as maturing, building and scaling the event driven platform and integrations with other enterprise systems. This team has a good mix of business as well as technical driven initiatives. You will be using modern technologies to solve complex problems. This role is in an area that has high impact and visibility to Target.Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the PO and other members of the team on design and development to deliver required business functionality.
  • Develop code that meets team coding best practices for production ready deployments.
  • Keep up with new technologies and tools that are emerging as solutions at Target and externally as well.
  • At times, will work with other teams to coordinate development of dependencies.
  • Participate as a full stack engineer on the team doing development, testing, deployment and support.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience engineering and supporting distributed systems.
  • Strong problem solving and thought partnership skills.
  • Good knowledge and use of Object Oriented Principles.
  • Team attitude.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience building and scaling RESTful APIs and event driven solutions using Kafka.
  • Experience building high volume enterprise applications that are scalable and maintainable.
  • Exposure to SQL technologies that support large amounts of data.
  • Exposure to DevOps tools, processes and culture (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Openstack, Drone, Git, etc.).
  • Awareness of and ability to learn new and emerging technologies.
