A role in Network Planning and Global Intelligence(NP&GI) means creating industry leading intelligence solutions to drive best in class omnichannel guest experiences at the lowest cost to Target.  You might focus on enabling the future transportation operating model, optimizing inventory management, driving topology planning or leveraging deep business insights and analytics to propel Target's supply chain.  As a network steward, we create forecasts, design inventory optimization strategies and leverage technology to ensure our inventory is available at the right time, in the right places and quantity to meet the needs of our guests, stores and operational goals.  Super-powered first and foremost by our people, and supported by robust process and technology, we are a team of data-focused, curious minds who love to solve hard problems to enable a dynamic, fast paced Supply Chain network. 

The Inventory Planning Control team, a pillar of NPG&I, is specifically responsible for monitoring and operating Target's Inventory Planning and Control (IPC), systems. This team is responsible for the system that Inventory mangers will use to get recommended order quantity, implement automatic ordering, decide how much inventory to buy, when to bring inventory into the target network, and where to position it.  The IPC team innovates, continuously improves processes that result in sophisticated, intelligent and self-learning models. IPC is unique in that we are simultaneously developing the science of supply chain planning at Target and responsible for studying, designing, and building systems to suit Target's needs.  The Sr Inventory Intel Analyst is a key part of the IPC team to analyze information from the system, develop recommendations and provide them to internal partners and users of the system.  This role will use their analytics, problem solving and curiosity to apply advanced statistics and data mining techniques to analyze and make insights from big data such as historical production data and simulation/experiment results Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.  You will report to Director, Inventory Planning and Control. Job location will be Minneapolis, MN.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in math, advanced statistics, business, operations research, and/or supply chain or equivalent experience in an operations research, statistics or supply chain analysis/operations business environment

  • Experience in inventory planning concepts - forecasting, planning, optimization, and logistics - gained through work experience

  • A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in easy to understand terminology with multiple audiences

  • Experience in utilization of predictive analytics to drive root cause analysis and build leading indicators to influence process engineering

  • Demonstrated skills in interpreting data concepts/vision/needs to build drillable, detailed, probability based reporting to highlight complex problems and influence invention of process

  • Proven experience achieving results by leading, partnering, and influencing others

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic, cross-functional leadership, planning and execution

  • Experience utilizing problem solving and analytical skills

  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with the use of logistics software systems

Desired Requirements:

  • Background in Merchandise Planning or Merchandise Planning Operations to root cause troubleshooting, combining data sources (Excel/Access/etc.)
