Sales Manager - Food

Job Description

Established Wholesale Food Distributor seeking a Sales Manager. This is a management level role.

Company sells to restaurants, retailers, hotels, and national contract accounts, among others. This is a hands-on position – direct involvement with customers, suppliers, and industry representatives required.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and develop sales reps and customer service staff; assist in new employee hiring and training
  • Establish and/or maintain key accounts including national buying groups, retail chains, and independent restaurants
  • Work closely with buying and operations department
  • Constantly multitask with the ability to deliver against short deadlines and changing priorities
  • Partner with buying department on promotions, pricing, and supplier opportunities
  • Wide range of miscellaneous daily, ongoing, and one-off duties/job functions

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Be a motivated self-starter
  • Experienced as a ‘problem solver’ with strong ability to work through ambiguity
  • Possess knowledge of sales practices and principles
  • Prior experience in hiring and training new employees
  • 3+ years of food industry sales/management experience required
  • Hands-on foodservice or hospitality management experience strongly preferred
  • College degree preferred
