Product teams at Target Corporation are accountable for the delivery of product outcomes.  Product outcomes are a combination of delivering business value features, and creating a technology system that is easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology and design work.As a Lead Product Owner, you will work in the product model and will collaborate with your product team and key stakeholders to develop a plan and business objectives (OKRs) for your respective product.  You will need to build a strong knowledge of your product through product discovery to collect customer feedback and work to collect other relevant data points that explain the value and help you prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for your product. You will be the “voice of the product” with your product team and stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met and you will be responsible to maintain and refine the product backlog (create user stories & acceptance criteria) while prioritizing the backlog to focus on the highest impact work for your team and stakeholders. You will encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as, inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction.  You will foster sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles.  Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.  About the role This position will be responsible for maintaining and improving Assortment Optimization Product (software as a service) integrated with Overall APEX Web Application.  APEX is an Assortment Planning Experience workflow tool that relies on advanced science products such as Assortment Optimization to drive key business results.  The Assortment Optimization Engine leverages various DSE products to provide recommendations.Objectives and key results (OKRs) includes
  • Identify product-market fit gaps and take steps to address the gaps
  • Define adoption/growth strategy in partnership with APEX PM and Product marketing group
  • Conduct user research and translate the needs to new product features
  • Conduct user testing in partnership with APEX PM teams
  • Own product vision, OKRs and product backlog
  • Define product measurement metrics and track product performance
The Product Owner will work with users, stakeholders, data science and engineering teams to define, build and deliver products against these initiatives.
  • This role will be based out of Target's Minneapolis Downtown HQ.
  • Normal working hours for this role will be 8 am to 4 pm CST
  • Candidate will have to work with cross-geo development teams in MSP, Sunnyvale and Bangalore
  • User and product research
    • Conduct user research, document user stories
    • Research and analyze market, the users, and the roadmap for the product
    • Follow our competitors and the industry 
    • Define the product-market fit.
  • User testing
    • Building product prototypes, wireframes
    • Define product performance KPIs
    • Conduct usability tests, user testing
    • Define and execute product growth strategy
  • Product release
    • Lead the planning product release plans and set expectation for delivery of new functionalities
    • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
  • Product vision and backlog grooming
    • Define product vision, road-map and growth opportunities 
    • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product
    • Work closely with Product Management leadership to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI
    • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
    • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
  • Agile methodologies
    • Take lead of scrum team as the Product Owner
    • Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the product and create requirements 
    • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on
    • Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends
    • Encourages the open exchange of information and viewpoints
  • Overall relevant experience of 8-12 years
  • Previous working experience of working as a Retail-domain AI/ML based Product Owner for 4-6 years.
  • Prior product management experience in retail, merchandising domain, pre-season planning, assortment planning, markdown optimization etc. is an added advantage.
  • Masters in Computer Science, Engineering or similar relevant field, Or, MBA from a tier-1 institute
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles 
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills

  • Systems and business analysis experience for the purpose of requirements documentation and working through issues as part of a team.
  • Understanding of business cycles and fundamental accounting concepts

  • Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities.TECHNICAL SKILLSMust have
  • Domain experience in any or more of the merchandising planning (assortment planning, price and promotions optimization, space optimization) or supply-chain planning areas
  • Basic/intermediate experience in any of these querying languages- SQL, Hive
  • Proficient in BI tools like Tableau, Domo etc.
  • Excellent stakeholders communication - written, verbal and telephonic
  • Ability to do quick analysis and summarize results on MS Excel, Powerpoint
  • Experience of working with agile and collaboration tools like JIRA, confluence, Git etc. Good to have
  • Ability to use web-based user research tools, user testing tools
  • Proficient in either one of the analytical platform- R (Packages)  or Python packages
  • Proficient in RShiny or other equivalent canned web prototype development tools
  • Hands on experience in statistical testing and measurement, forecasting validations
