Ranked Faculty -Department of Physics
The Department of Physics invites applicants for a full time 3 year rolling ranked faculty position beginning on September 4, 2019.
Teaching PHYS 1110 and 1120 calculus physics with lab for the 2019-2020 academic year. Typical enrollment is 10-16 students. The successful candidate will also develop and teach labs for this particular course as well as serve as the laboratory instructor for the algebra course: PHYS 1080 and 1090 physics for the health sciences. Some teaching of PHYS 1050 conceptual physics course and/or labs will also be required.
Lecture: PHYS 1110 PHYS 1120 9:35 - 10:40 AM, MWF
Merged Lab Sections: 1:30 - 3:30 PM M, W, and 3:35-5:30 Monday
Conceptual PHYS 1050 lab 9:55-11:35 T
Design interactive lectures/activities for each class period.
• Teach weekly lab sections by designing either new or modifying current labs using available equipment.
• Set up/tear down labs in coordination with other professors.
• Hold office hours at least 2 hours per week.
• Grade homework, tests, daily assignments, and other assignments as assigned.
• Keep D2L course website up to date with all required class materials.
• Assign grades and monitor student progress.
Master's Degree or 18 graduate credits in physics, astronomy or engineering is required, Ph.D. preferred. Three years of physics teaching experience preferred. Collaborative undergraduate research experience with projects in mind will be looked upon favorably.
