Lead Product Designer - Target.com

At Target, our purpose is to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. We're looking for a lead product designer to help us bring this vision to Target.com—one of the largest online shopping destinations in the world. Is it you? It might be if…

You're a product designer who thrives at the intersection of design craft and strategy. You're a curious person who falls in love with problems and enjoys iterating toward a solution. You know how to use guest and data insights to inform your work and measure its impact. You present work clearly and effectively to educate others and gain support. You value design that is welcoming, inspiring, simple and helpful.

As a product designer you'll partner with product owners, user researchers, writers, engineers, business partners, other designers and most importantly, our guests, to develop impactful new ways to meet modern shopping needs. This includes envisioning entirely new experiences, as well as reimagining existing ones.

* Turn broad, conceptual ideas into world-class mobile and desktop products for Target.com
* Own the full design process, from early product discovery and ideation to final pixel-tweaking with engineers
* Design flows that are intuitive, elegant and provide value for our guests while accounting for a wide variety of user scenarios
* Incorporate data and guest insights into the design process (in partnership with our research team)
* Utilize and contribute to a design pattern library maintained by our design systems team
* Gracefully articulate and defend design decisions to peers and leaders
* Collaborate wildly well with others including other designers, writers, engineers, product managers, QA staff, accessibility team members, and partners in marketing
* Consult with other teams across Target (apps, marketing, pricing & promotions, item, etc.) to ensure cohesiveness in the guest experience

* 7+ years of visual and interaction design experience
* A portfolio featuring interaction design work
* Experience shipping digital products (web, apps or software)
* Expertise with modern design and prototyping tools (such as Sketch and InVision)
* Awareness of data and research methodologies and ability to conduct or partner with research experts
* Excellent collaboration and influence skills
* Able to work well in a large organization with many partners
* Able to articulate and defend design decisions with grace, logic and data
* Able to translate technical requirements into simple, engaging designs
* Able to lead design of large-scale projects and initiatives involving multiple teams
* A combination of curiosity and critical thinking skills
