 A role within Merchandise Excellence means you are a part of Merchandising's most innovative and highly visible new team supporting the Chief Merchandising Officer (CMO) and his Chief of Staff. You will be a trusted advisor to Merchandising leaders by developing analytics, modeling, and actionable insights that drive guest preference and financial performance. You will lead through consultative problem-solving, hypothesis-driven data analysis, and structured project management.

As a Merchandise Excellence Lead Consultant, you'll take the lead through opportunity identification and structuring as you drive strategic insights by translating business needs into specific project plans for data collection and analysis. You will lead projects through the entire project lifecycle; from project definition to execution, while developing and managing project plans, stakeholders, timelines, and communication. The Merch Ex Lead Consultant directs small cross-functional teams, often consisting of Sr. Consultants, Enterprise Data Analytics Business Intelligence (EDABI) Support Partners, Finance, and others throughout the project lifecycle. Other partnerships include insights teams and third-party research partners to build greater context into problems and opportunities.

You'll take the lead through analytics and modeling by analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing findings from all relevant sources (including guest data, financial reporting, market insights, category managers, vendors, and competitive analysis) to derive actionable insights. You will identify opportunities for growth, innovation, profitability, and market share gains by proactively conducting enterprise, cross-channel and cross-category business assessments through evaluating, and modeling multiple variables. Leading efforts to help advance solutions that drive traffic, basket, conversion, and guest loyalty will be a crucial part of your role as well. You will have the opportunity to identify deeper analytics needed within assigned projects and partnership with EDABI/Finance. Providing support and feedback for tool and technology development will be a crucial role to play to ensure success in analytics. It will be your responsibility to stay current on industry research, market sales data, emerging and distressed retailers, competitive trends and movement and conduct competitive shopping activities as applicable. You will balance the use of qualitative data (what the guest says) with quantitative data (what the guest does) to create optimal outcomes.

You'll take the lead through communication and alignment by synthesizing and distilling analyses to focus on the most critical issues and actionable opportunities. The Merch Ex Lead Consultant creates and delivers compelling presentations that simplify complex findings, facilitate greater understanding of key insights and strategies, and inspire action. In partnership with teams and stakeholders, you will organize and align to drive action on strategies as needed.

About you:

Four-year degree or equivalent experience

6 years of Merchandising, Finance, or Corporate Strategy experience

Strong problem-solving skills, including problem structuring, quantitative reasoning, and analysis

Strategic thinker with the ability to translate trends and analytics into actionable recommendations

Demonstrated analytical aptitude and complex modeling skills with experience across a variety of analytical tools

Ability to work independently on ambiguous projects; comfort with driving decision-making in spite of incomplete information

Strong relationship building skills and proven track record of managing cross-functional stakeholders

Strong people management and communication skills, including the ability to influence at all levels

Ability to create compelling materials to align clients and stakeholders (PowerPoint decks), and verbal storytelling/presentation skills to various levels of audience

Track record of success in dealing effectively with complex projects entailing frequent interaction with senior executives
