Job Description:

This position is open ONLY to Shakopee High School CAPS participants.

 

Job Summary:

Provides support to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) Gaming Enterprise Human Resources Development and Services teams including exposure to Training and Organizational Development, Divisional HR, Employment, Payroll, Benefits, HRIS, and Communications departments.

Status:
Intern (non-paid, part-time position)

Primary Duties and Tasks:

  1. Shadow each HR department to understand the unique department functions and offerings to the Gaming Enterprise, including time in the department office area and at the "HR Window" that services employees
  2. Prepare New Hire Orientation materials such as signature control cards and Benefits packets
  3. Attend various HR classes (ie. Leader & the Law, Progressive Discipline) and make recommendations on ways to improve content for participants
  4. Attend department meetings to understand the dynamics of business meetings as an HR Business Partner
  5. Assist with processing of HR documents including record filing as needed
  6.  Other duties as assigned

 

Possible projects include:
1) Employee benefits
Assist the Benefits team with a special enrollment period in March

2) Learn unemployment procedures
Participate in an unemployment hearing and practice preparing a response to an unemployment claim


Requirements:

Experience:

  1. Familiar with Microsoft Office products
  2. A demonstrated record of successful involvement working on a team
  3. Able to work independently, follow instructions, communicate effectively and manage multiple resources 
  4. Abides by policies, regulations, laws, and confidentiality expectations
  5. Comfortable processing detailed project requests
  6. Strives to provide internal and external guests with consistent, exceptional guest service through utilizing Enterprise Core Guest Service Standards
