A role in Planning means being in charge of the financials and forecasting for one of Target's businesses. Here, you'll conduct comparative analysis of holiday or other seasonal performance reports and provide the insights that inform the Inventory team's work to ensure that product supports projected sales. Acting as the hub between Merchandising and Supply Chain, you will create a financial link between these two essential groups and have a voice in some of the most important decisions from a financial strategy standpoint.

As a Merchandise Planner in Toys, you'll lead all phases of demand forecasting, provide in-season reaction decisions, collaborate on assortment planning, and recommend localization and channel strategies. You'll support the divisional strategy through your category expertise and partnerships with cross-functional teams and have deep interactions with key vendors. You will head up the open-to-buy process and decide preseason category-level investment including the big bets on key holiday Toys, and ensure the financial validity of assortments. You'll conduct scenario and contingency plans with vendors.You will work quickly to respond to demand signals and make “chase-cancel” decisions that drive meaningful impact to the category financials. A large part of your role will be to interpret forecast results and conduct “what if?” analysis to guide your go-forward recommendations. You will validate the promotional planning forecast and analyze risks in partnership with the Pricing & Promotion Center of Excellence. You'll also play a critical role in item lifecycle management by driving end-of-season decisions and management.This role has responsibility for several classes including Vehicles, Remote control cars and drones, Blasters, Tech Toys which has Robotic and STEM toys, and Novelty which includes robotic pets.

About you:

Four-year degree or equivalent experience

4+ years of Merchandising experience. The ideal candidate will have experience managing financials in a Merchant, Planning, or Finance role.

Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills; can easily translate data from an array of sources into insights and recommendations.

Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams and external vendors

Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing and require speed in their response.These classes have a high degree of trend change each season and require an eye for product.
