A role in Enterprise Risk Management means you will help identify and manage top strategic, financial, operational and compliance risks Target faces. You will also play a key role in coordinating and maintaining an enterprise response framework for these areas of risk.

The Lead Risk Consultant role is a strong individual contributor with identified areas of expertise for risk monitoring & intelligence, focused on the enterprise risk portfolio.  Role is responsible for external research and intelligence on risk developments for the top risks. This includes adhering to a professional research methodology to prioritize risk developments that may make a risk more likely or impactful as well drafting, finishing and presenting their own work to peers and leaders involved with subject matter content.  This role will require an individual that is a strong critical thinker, an experienced researcher and a collaborative business partner. This role will engage with internal cross-functional partners across the company, including subject matter experts and leaders.  This individual must have exceptional communication skills, particularly in writing and be comfortable presenting their own work.

Principle duties and responsibilities:
• Conduct risk monitoring, reporting and analysis across Target's enterprise risk portfolio on a defined cadence
• Conduct “inside-out” and “outside-in” research on the drivers, root causes, and key indicators associated with existing and identified enterprise risks
• Use extensive sources of information available, be creative in approach to identifying new sources of information, and have a broad sense of risk in order to connect the dots between seemingly disparate sources of information and provide analysis of what it means
• Conduct specialized research of root causes, leading practices, etc to inform response planning at enterprise level
• Maintain relationships with subject matter experts in different Target business units to obtain internal and external data related to the enterprise risk portfolio
• Maintain relationships with external sources to obtain information needed for “outside in” analysis of Target's enterprise risk portfolio
• Monitor changes in the drivers, conditions, root causes and metrics/indicators of enterprise risks to help manage existing enterprise risks or identified emerging risk areas
• Perform special projects, analyses, and studies to increase Target's understanding and awareness of specific enterprise risks, including internal and external factors, root causes, conditions, and metrics affecting the risk.
• Publish internal and external research on Target's enterprise risk portfolio to Target's leadership, risk owners and teams, and 2nd, and 3rd line partners
• Conduct research and benchmarking on risk management best practices, provide ongoing risk issue reporting to business partners to assist in planning and decision making, and ad-hoc assessments to assist business partners with point-in-time decisions
• Help inform risk portfolio team of cross-cutting issues, to alert affected leaders and business units of changes to the drivers, conditions, root causes, indicators of enterprise risk
• Enhance partner-team's decision-making process regarding risk through research and insights on enterprise risks


About you:
• Expertise in risk insights analysis (ability to translate into action items, spot triggers and trends)
• Excellent written communication (quantitative and qualitative)
• Very strong critical thinker including analytical, problem solving and interpretation of large amounts of inputs
• Ability to manage multiple high priority concurrent projects
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to develop and leverage strong partnerships in order to obtain feedback and insight, influence, negotiate, and accomplish work through others
• 5-7 years' experience in research, intelligence or insights, issues management or risk management with a proven track record of using date to drive decision making
• Strong strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple projects
• Proven project leadership and business acumen; solid track record of execution and results
• Exceptional computer and technology skills - proficient in Microsoft suite of products and Excel
