Position Summary Information Position Responsibilities St. Catherine University invites applications for a full time, one-year temporary faculty position in the Biology Department. Rank and salary commensurate with experience.


Position Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will teach Human Anatomy and Physiology I, Human Anatomy and Physiology II, and Biology of Women. The anatomy and physiology courses cover the core principles of human anatomy and physiology in an integrated fashion so that students understand the complementary nature of structure and function at cellular, tissue, and organ systems levels. Students are also exposed to some of the clinical applications of anatomy and physiology in health and disease. Laboratory experiences make use of anatomical models, histology slides, and biological specimens to develop knowledge of body structures and physiological recordings, demonstrations, and simulations to develop knowledge of body functions. The Biology of Women course covers basic principles of biology in areas such as anatomy, physiology, genetics, cell biology, and immunology in the context of issues relevant to women. Goals of the course are to educate women to become better informed consumers of scientific media and healthcare and to develop a multi-cultural perspective on issues surrounding women's health. In the teaching laboratory, students acquire and apply basic biological techniques and skills, are immersed in the process of scientific investigation, and develop teamwork and communication skills.

Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Anatomy or Physiology or closely related field, along with evidence of experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
