Position Title: Stone Fabricator
Department: Cut Stone Department
Reports To: Stone Fabrication Manager
Employment Status: Non-exempt


Regular Hours Worked: This is an hourly position
Up to 40 hours/week - Some Saturdays required, may include overtime


POSITION SUMMARY:
The Stone Fabricator plays an integral role in the Hedberg Aggregates, Inc. mission of supporting customers by fabricating orders in an efficient and expedient manner with accuracy, while fulfilling all customer needs.

DUTIES
1. Finish work on fabricated stone
a. Rock facing, sanding, polishing, etc.

2. Stone cutting
a. Saw set-up
b. Cutting stone to dimensions

3. Material Handling
a. Unloading slabs from trucks
b. Stone waste removal
c. Moving stone to work areas
d. Palletizing completed orders

4. Quality control
a. Checking written orders for accuracy
b. Checking completed orders for accuracy
c. Checking finished orders for overall adherence and quality

5. Maintenance of shop & yard
a. Performing routine maintenance on equipment
b. Insuring equipment is safe to use
c. Keeping shop and yard clean

6. Customer Loading
a. Loading cut stone onto customer vehicles and Hedberg trucks

7. Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks
as assigned.

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION
This position is closely supervised: The Stone Fabricator is a key player in
supporting the masonry department. Follows instructions and takes direction from the
Stone Fabrication Supervisor.
This position has no responsibility for work direction of other employees, distributing
work to others, reviewing others’ work, training new employees, and/or making specific
work assignments.

PERSONAL CONTACTS
This position requires direct contact with the Stone Fabrication Supervisor, Cut Stone
Coordinator, and occasionally the sales staff of Hedberg Aggregates. Some contact
with customers is expected in the normal course of business.
Access to confidential information: This position has access to drawings, company
processes and procedures, some customer information, and knowledge of
vendors/suppliers.
Does not have access to or handles company funds.

REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM qualifications required to perform all essential functions:
• Experience in warehouse and/or fabrication environment
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multi-task
Required technical skills (typing, computer skills, etc.):
• Use of forklifts
• Basic understanding of mathematics, especially fractions

PREFERRED qualifications for this position are:
• Background in stone fabrication or use of wet saws
• A-Cad experience
• Customer service

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position works within a physical, indoor and outdoor environment with lifting and
the use of certain types of equipment and tools. The outdoor environment includes
working in adverse weather conditions such as high heat, humidity, very cold
temperatures, rain, or dust as the seasons change. Weekend work may be required.
Must be able to maintain safe work conditions while working in a fast-paced
environment with a high level of customer demands.
